PATNA: With growing stress, tea lovers in the city are switching to a healthier lifestyle and prefer green tea to the traditional milk tea.According to city tea traders, sipping a hot cup of tea with lots of milk and sugar to rejuvenate oneself is a thing of the past. "Many people, especially youngsters, are obsessed with green tea because it helps in weight loss, prevention of cardiovascular diseases and different kinds of cancer. In fact, its sales have gone up from almost 20% to 70% in a few years' time," a tea trader on Fraser Road told TOI on Thursday.Avi Bansal, the manager of a general store on S P Verma Road, said, "The sudden rise in the demand for green tea is mainly because of its innumerable health benefits. It has gained popularity among office-goers who want to look fit and smart."Green tea has helped Neha Kumari improve her digestion. "With the regular consumption of green tea for a year, I lost weight. I also feel energetic now," Neha claimed.Harsh Singh, another person who has been drinking green tea for months, said, "In January, I stopped consuming cold drinks and other unhealthy beverages and switched to green tea as it has zero calories."
