4 held with liquor

"We stopped four youths travelling in a car, who told us they were pilgrims. BANKA: The Banka police arrested four youths near the Tilaiya Mor check post on Deoghar-Katoria-Bhagalpur main road in Banka district and recovered at least 260 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) from their possession on late Monday night. The arrested youths are stated to be running a liquor smuggling racket since its statewide ban in April last year.Acting on a tip off, police placed their teams at strategic locations on the borders of Banka in Bihar and Deoghar and Godda in Jharkhand. However, when their vehicle was checked, at least 260 liquor bottles worth Rs 4 lakh were recovered from their possession," Katoria police station SHO Pravesh Kumar Bharti said on Tuesday, adding the youths had been forwarded to jail.According to a source, the youths, identified as Bumbum Rai (Akbarnagar), Brajesh Mandal (Ghogha), Rudal Kumar (Nathnagar) and Ravindra Kumar Sharma (Nathnagar), have told police about the "involvement of white-collared customers" in the illegal trade.
