Cash, goods worth Rs29 lakh stolen in twin city burglaries

The daring theft in the showroom, located along the main road of Patliputra Colony, has exposed the administration's tall claims of intensive police patrolling in the city. Patna: Thieves decamped with booty worth around Rs 29 lakh in two separate incidents under Patliputra Colony and Gardanibagh police station areas in the city on Monday night.In the first incident, thieves took away Rs 13 lakh in cash and accessories worth around Rs 4 lakh from a motorcycle showroom at Patliputra Colony. Police sources said the thieves entered the showroom after breaking open the locks of the shutter. Police sources said the thieves entered the house by breaking open the lock of the main door. Police said the thieves even consumed food items kept in the refrigerator.

The daring theft in the showroom, located along the main road of Patliputra Colony, has exposed the administration's tall claims of intensive police patrolling in the city."One of the private guards found the shutter open around 8.30am and brought the matter to the notice of Pratik Singh, the owner of the showroom, who, in turn, informed the police," sources said, adding the incident probably took place around 2am.SHO of Patliputra Colony police station Tarkeshwar Nath Tiwari said even though a CCTV camera was installed in the showroom, it was not functional."Pratik has told police that he had switched off the CCTV camera before pulling the shutter of the showroom down on Monday," the SHO said, adding footages of CCTV cameras installed outside the showroom will be scanned.In another incident, cash and jewellery worth around Rs 12 lakh was stolen from the rented house of one Adil Ahmad at Ali Nagar under Gardanibagh police station. Police sources said the thieves entered the house by breaking open the lock of the main door. No one was present at the house when the incident occurred. Police said the thieves even consumed food items kept in the refrigerator.
