Contributions pour in for scheme to improve government schools

The district administration was taking several measures to improve the School Education Department. A total of 2.10 lakh students were studying in these schools. Kandasamy launched the scheme, ‘My Child-My Care,’ a contribution of ?9 lakh came from the government employees. The scheme was aimed at improving the education of government school students with the contribution of government school teachers, government officers and employees, a press release said. A team headed by the Collector had been formed to implement this scheme.

more-in On a day when Collector K.S. Kandasamy launched the scheme, ‘My Child-My Care,’ a contribution of ?9 lakh came from the government employees. Mr. Kandasamy launched the new initiative on Monday, and made his own contribution of ?10,000. The scheme was aimed at improving the education of government school students with the contribution of government school teachers, government officers and employees, a press release said. The Collector said there were 2,120 government and government-aided schools in the district. A total of 2.10 lakh students were studying in these schools. The district administration was taking several measures to improve the School Education Department. It was as part of these measures that ‘My Child-My Care’ scheme was launched. Instead of seeking sponsorships for each requirement, government school teachers, officers and employees decided to contribute whatever they can from their monthly salaries. More than 150 persons contributed towards the initiative and a total of ?9 lakh was pooled in. He said this scheme would bring about a change among students in the district. A team headed by the Collector had been formed to implement this scheme. The Chief Education Officer was the secretary of the team that comprised 10 members, the release said.
