Narayanasamy to take a cue from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in his fight to protect the rights of an elected government. AIADMK floor leader A. Anbalagan said the Chief Minister should emulate his counterpart in New Delhi. Referring to the agitation by Delhi Chief Minister at Raj Nivas against the Lt Governor, Mr Anbalagan said Mr. Narayanasamy should either launch a protest at Raj Nivas or take the MLAs to the national capital to organise a demonstration against the Centre. The decision of the Union Home Ministry not to permit the territorial administration to present a full budget was an insult to an elected government. It was an insult to the Union Territory, he added. ‘Childish demand’ The AIADMK leader criticised the Chief Minister for seeking special category status for Union Territory when the Centre had rejected such a demand made by even bigger States. It was “childish” on the part of Mr. Narayanasamy to make such a demand, he added. After the press conference, a party delegation, led by Mr. Anbalagan, called on Lt Governor Kiran Bedi seeking her intervention in cancelling auction of two arrack shops in Muthialpet. In a memorandum, the party said two arrack shops at Muthialpet were in the beginning kept out of the auctioning process to be held on Tuesday. In the last minute, the two arrack shops had been included, he said. The opening of arrack shops in the area would hamper projects taken up as part of Smart City, the memorandum said.
