Addressing the press after launching the restaurant, Gerald Dias, Director – Business Operations – South, Hardcastle Restaurants, said that Puducherry was the 104th store in the south. The kitchen has separate areas for vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The menu includes Mc Aloo Tikki Burger, McSpicy Paneer, Chicken McSpicy Burger, wraps and desserts. McDonald’s has 37,000 restaurants across 122 countries around the world with 2.3 billion customers. Balanced meal According to Mr. Dias, the fastfood chain’s 'Good Food Story' provides for nutritious and wholesome food. “There are no artificial colour, preservatives or flavours in the foods. We are re-engineering our products to provide healthier and wholesome meal," he said. "Aloo Tikki Burger is considered to be a balanced meal with proteins, carbs and fat. In McVeggie, there is 25 per cent more dietary fibre and there 20 per cent less sodium in our products. We use only vegetarian mayonnaise. Besides, there is 40 per cent less oil and 11 per cent less calories," said Mr.Dias. The city’s only McDonald's restaurant which was launched in Providence Mall will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
