AINRC, AIADMK MLAs stage protest

Rangasamy on Monday questioned the moral authority of Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy in presenting a budget. He told reporters after staging a walkout that before the budget presentation, none of the programmes announced in the last budget were implemented. Thousands of people working in public sector undertakings were not able to get salary after the new government took over. Free rice scheme, distribution of cloth and disbursement of old age pension were affected because of the power struggle between the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister. He said the Chief Minister should refrain from criticising the Centre as the Union Territory was dependent on funds from the Centre. Earlier, all the AINRC members, led by Mr. Rangasamy walked out as soon as the Chief Minister began his speech. AIADMK protests Similarly, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam members, dressed in black, walked out of the Assembly to protest against the government’s all-round failure. They held posters seeking rollback of power tariff and bus fare hike. The MLAs carrying the posters tried to enter the well of the house but the watch and ward staff prevented them from moving close to the Speaker’s chamber. AIADMK members returned to the House. AIADMK leader A. Anbalagan urged the Speaker to provide a copy of the budget speech.
