A fire broke out at the L&T’s steel component and tower fabrication factory at Sedurapet near here on Friday. The police said the fire broke out at around 4 p.m. in the paint unit in the factory and around 3,000 litres of paint were gutted in the fire. The real cause for the fire and the damages would be known only after investigations, said a Fire and Rescue Services official. Twelve fire tenders from Puducherry and Vanur and Kottakuppam in neighbouring Villupuram district put out the blaze after struggling for about an hour. The workers immediately ran out and alerted the Fire Services department.
