8 inspectors to be elevated

The Civil Services Board has recommended that eight inspectors be made Superintendents of Police on a temporary basis. The temporary arrangement was made to fill the vacancy in SP posts, he said. According to a senior police officer, all the eight were eligible to be promoted as SPs. A few of them had gone to the court to settle the seniority list. Their promotion could be made effective only after the court decided on their seniority.

Bascarane (Wireless), Chintha Kothandaraman (Sigma Security), C. Maran (POP), K. Murugavel (Food Cell), Nallam Krishnaraya Babu (Home Guards), B. Ranganathan (Special Branch), N. Selvam (CID) and Inspector K. L. Veeravallaban (MT). According to a senior police officer, all the eight were eligible to be promoted as SPs.
