The Ariyankuppam police have arrested an assistant professor of the Bharathiyar Palkalaikoodam, the government-run Performing and Fine Arts College here on charges of sexually abusing a 63-year-old woman. Based on the victim’s complaint, the police have registered a case under Sections 354 A and 377 of the Indian Penal Code and arrested Mr. Rajendiran. The accused, whose name was given as I. Rajendiran, allegedly abused the victim during her visit to the college. According to the police, the victim, hailing from Ariyankuppam, had been a model and posed for students of sculpting department in the last five years.
