Puducherry govt. staff donate a day’s salary

Narayanasamy on Monday announced that the government employees in the Union Territory had come forward to contribute one day’s salary totalling ?5 crore for the flood relief in Kerala. Bank accountThe Chief Minister appealed to corporates, commercial and merchant associations and non-governmental organisations of Puducherry to generously contribute to the relief of the affected people in Kerala. The Chief Minister called upon the profit-making government undertakings, private medical and engineering colleges and autonomous institutions in the Union Territory to contribute funds generously for the flood-ravaged State. The Puducherry Government had declared its contribution of ?1 crore and had taken steps to increase the assistance. Mr. Narayanasamy said donations in kind should be restricted to blankets/bedsheets, inner garments, nightwear, baby diaper, sanitary napkins, sleeping mats, towels and footwear.

The Chief Minister called upon the profit-making government undertakings, private medical and engineering colleges and autonomous institutions in the Union Territory to contribute funds generously for the flood-ravaged State. Chairing a meeting with senior government officials at the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) on the East Coast Road, Mr. Narayanasamy called upon the people from all walks of life to extend financial assistance to Kerala. The Puducherry Government had declared its contribution of ?1 crore and had taken steps to increase the assistance. Bank account The Chief Minister appealed to corporates, commercial and merchant associations and non-governmental organisations of Puducherry to generously contribute to the relief of the affected people in Kerala. A separate bank account had been opened in Indian Bank to enable people make contributions to the State. Mr. Narayanasamy said donations in kind should be restricted to blankets/bedsheets, inner garments, nightwear, baby diaper, sanitary napkins, sleeping mats, towels and footwear. The material could be handed over at the office of the District Collector here, he said. Revenue Minister M.O.H.F. Shahjahan was present.
