‘Officers accountable for maintenance of streets, drains’

Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi has stressed the need to make officers accountable for maintenance of streets and cleaning drains of a particular area. On Saturday, as part of Swatchhata Hi Seva 2018 programme embarked on a tree planting exercise. Ms. Bedi intended to review all work taken up under Swatchhata on October 1 before sending a report to the Prime Minister’s Office. Ms. Bedi directed the Chief Conservator of Forest to prepare a detailed programme for tree plantation, encompassing both pre-monsoon and post-monsoon periods, a release from Raj Nivas said. Overlapping of work between the departments led to persistent blame game, she said.
