ICT has become essential for decision-making, says NLCIL chief

The NLCIL organised the seminar featuring a host of experts to disseminate various best practices in ICT sphere, adopted and practised by various organisations. The tools and techniques of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) have evolved from just being a support function to essential tools for decision-making process, Rakesh Kumar, chairman and managing director of NLCIL, said on Friday. NLCIL Functional Directors V. Thangapandian, R. Vikraman and senior officials, M. Raghavan, CGM, Vigilance, and M. Ananthanarayanan, ADGM/Vigilance, participated. Seminars of this nature help practitioners build an integrated, coordinated and transparent methods to reach organisational goals, he said. It aimed to look inward and re-examine the practices adopted by NLCIL that need to be enhanced or new tools to be introduced within the organisational environment.

Inaugurating a two-day seminar on “IT Enablement for Transparent Working ” organised by NLCIL as part of Vigilance Awareness Week, at the Learning & Development Centre, Neyveli, Mr. Rakesh Kumar said as a result of the phenomenon, the use of ICT in businesses and organisations had emerged as a prerequisite for effective management and for engendering a transparent work culture. Venkatasubramanian, CVO, NLCIL, in his introductory speech on seminar theme, said that information technology had come to play a crucial and dominant role in contemporary organisational structure. IT facilitates coordination with other processes, departments and organisations. Seminars of this nature help practitioners build an integrated, coordinated and transparent methods to reach organisational goals, he said. NLCIL Functional Directors V. Thangapandian, R. IT professionals who are guiding sessions include Harish Ramani and Ashish Srivastava and Rajendra Kumar Agrawal, Eastern Coalfields. The topics covered include physical security in office, cyber etiquette and mobile security, camera surveillance for mining and automated fuel management for industries. About 150 delegates including senior officials, employees from NLC India, are participating in the event.
