Covid-19 update: Puducherry reported 286 new cases on Monday

The 286 fresh cases were reported after examination of 3,596 samples during the last 24 hours pushing the tally to 26,685 (after transfer of one case to Tamil Nadu), Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release.

Puducherry reported 286 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the UT’s overall infection tally to 26,685.

Also, two more virus related deaths in the UT has taken a total death toll to 515.

The 286 fresh cases were reported after examination of 3,596 samples during the last 24 hours pushing the tally to 26,685 (after transfer of one case to Tamil Nadu), Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release.

He said 505 patients recovered and were discharged during the last 24 hours from various hospitals.

Mohan Kumar said 1,76,184 samples have been tested so far and it was found that 1,45,800 were negative and the results of the examination of remaining specimens were awaited.

Of the total 26,685 coronavirus cases, 5,013 were active while the number of patients who have recovered and have been discharged stood at 21,156, he added. Of the two patients who died of infection, one was an 89-year old male from Karaikal while the other was a 51-year old from Puducherry.

While the Puducherry region reported 248 of the 286 fresh cases, Karaikal saw 30 new infections being added, followed by Yanam (7) and Mahe (1), the Health department Director said.
