An alarming stat is the death rate in the UT, Puducherry recorded a death rate of 1.5 % on Monday, which is above the national average of 1.2 %.
In view of a massive surge in the number of cases in Puducherry, a night curfew will be imposed in the Union Territory of Puducherry from 10 pm to 5 am on Tuesday night.
According to the guidelines of the night curfew, all the hotels have been instructed to close by 8 pm. Only parcel services will be allowed after 8 pm.
Beach Road in Puducherry will be closed after 5 pm.
An alarming stat is the death rate in the UT, Puducherry had a death rate of 1.5 % on Monday, which is above the national average of 1.2 %.
There have been 572 deaths in Puducherry headquarters, 84 deaths in Karakkal, 45 in Yanam and 12 in Mahek.
Interestingly, the Union Territory recovery rate is 88.8 %, which is above the national average of 86 %. The total number of cases in Puducherry was 4,692, with 565 fresh cases reported on Monday, of which 3,849 people are in home isolation and receiving treatment. At the same time, 365 people have recovered.
The Health Department has sent 7.33 lakh swab samples for testing in the Union Territory, out of which 6.66 lakh samples have come negative. The press release of the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare said that it has so far administered Covid-19 vaccines to 30,202 health workers, 17,961 frontline works and 1,08 lakh others, so far a total of 1.55 lakhs people have been vaccinated.
