Puducherry government has extended the lockdown for a week till 31 May, earlier the lockdown was ending on May 24.

Lieutenant Governor Tamilasai Soundararajan announced to extend the curfew till 31 May. During this, he said that necessary services will be allowed in the curfew. All shops will open only till 12 noon.

All restrictions imposed from May 10 would continue and only essential services such as vegetables would be available till noon every day, an official release said. Milk and essential services would continue to be available and the government is keen that livelihood sources should not suffer any setback.

Puducherry added 922 in the last 24-hours ending 10 am on Monday as the overall tally rose to 96,982, a senior official of the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services said on Monday.

Twenty-three more deaths were reported during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Monday pushing the toll in the union territory to 1,382, Director of the Health department S Mohan Kumar said.
