Puducherry received 507 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours ending at 10 am on Thursday

Puducherry received 507 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours ending at 10 am on Thursday, while 9 people succumbed to the virus in the Union Territory.

Fresh cases on Wednesday pushed the UTs total cases tally to 1,11,255.

The cumulative death toll has reached 1,657 after 9 persons died of the disease in the last 24-hours.

The active cases tally has mounted to 6,705.

The Puducherry headquarters received the highest 366 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Karaikal (98), Yanam (20) and Mahe (23).

Director of the Health and Family Welfare department, S Mohan Kumar said that 35,693 vaccine doses have been given to health workers and 22,569 frontline workers. At the same time, 1.92 lakh people in all age groups have been vaccinated.

The official said that 646 patients have also recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 102,893.

The Health Department tested 8,215 samples in the last 24-hours.

UT recorded a test positivity rate (TPR) of 6.17%.
