Puducherry received 402 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours ending at 10 am on Sunday, while 9 people succumbed to the virus in the Union Territory.

Puducherry received 402 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours ending at 10 am on Sunday, while 9 people succumbed to the virus in the Union Territory.

Fresh cases on Saturday pushed the UTs total cases tally to 1,12,528.

The cumulative death toll has reached 1,684 after 11 people died of the disease in the last 24-hours.

The active cases tally has dipped further to 5331.

The Puducherry headquarters received the highest 343 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Karaikal (42), Yanam (10) and Mahe (7).

Director of the Health and Family Welfare department, S Mohan Kumar said that 36,407 vaccine doses have been given to health workers and 22,642 frontline workers. At the same time, 2.1 lakh people in all age groups have been vaccinated.

The official said that 809 patients have also recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 105,513.

The Health Department tested 8,724 samples in the last 24-hours.

UT recorded a test positivity rate (TPR) of 4.61%.

The recovery rate in the UT reached 93.77%, while the death rate was recorded at 1.50%.
