Puducherry sees a huge decline in fresh cases, receives 309 new cases & 7 fatalities

Puducherry received 309 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours ending at 10 am on Monday, while 7 people succumbed to the virus in the Union Territory.

Puducherry received 309 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours ending at 10 am on Monday, while 7 people succumbed to the virus in the Union Territory.

Fresh cases on Sunday pushed the UTs total cases tally to 1,12,837.

The cumulative death toll has reached 1,691 after 7 people died of the disease in the last 24-hours.

The active cases tally has dipped further to 4947.

The Puducherry headquarters received the highest 240 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Karaikal (47), Yanam (8) and Mahe (14).

Director of the Health and Family Welfare department, S Mohan Kumar said that 36,429 vaccine doses have been given to health workers and 22,649 frontline workers. At the same time, 2.12 lakh people in all age groups have been vaccinated.

The official said that 686 patients have also recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 106,199.

The Health Department tested 7,657 samples in the last 24-hours.

UT recorded a test positivity rate (TPR) of 4.04%.

The recovery rate in the UT reached 94.12%, while the death rate was recorded at 1.50%.
