Puducherry: UT added 121 fresh Covid cases, Lt gov. says Covid-19 shouldn't be ignored

Fresh cases on Tuesday pushed the UTs total cases tally to 1.19 lakh. The cumulative death toll has reached 1,772 after the death of one patient in the last 24-hours.

Puducherry received 121 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours ending at 10 am on Wednesday, while one death has been recorded in the Union Territory.

Fresh cases on Tuesday pushed the UTs total cases tally to 1.19 lakh. The cumulative death toll has reached 1,772 after the death of one patient in the last 24-hours.

The active cases tally has further dipped to 1327. The Puducherry headquarters received the highest 93 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Karaikal (18), Yanam (5) and Mahe (5).

Director of the Health and Family Welfare department, S Mohan Kumar said that, so far 37,646 vaccine doses have been given to health workers and 22,944 to frontline workers.

3,146 general public were inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday, while 4.35 lakh people in all age groups have been vaccinated to date.

Puducherry has administered 6.14 lakh vaccines including the second dose (general Public + Covid warriors). The official said that 177 patients have also recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 1.16 lakhs.

The Health Department tested 6,088 samples in the last 24-hours. UT recorded a test positivity rate (TPR) of 1.99%. The recovery rate in the UT reached 97.40%, while the death rate was recorded at 1.49%.
