The active cases tally has further dipped to 979. The Puducherry headquarters received the highest 53 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Karaikal (18), Yanam (5) and Mahe (14). Director of the Health and Family Welfare department, S Mohan Kumar said that, so far 37,799 vaccine doses have been given to health workers and 22,969 to frontline workers.
4,707 general public were inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday, while 4.93 lakh people in all age groups have been vaccinated to date. Puducherry has administered 6.96 lakh vaccines including the second dose (general Public + Covid warriors).

The official said that 82 patients have also recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 1.18 lakhs. The Health Department tested 5,317 samples in the last 24-hours. UT recorded a test positivity rate (TPR) of 1.69%. The recovery rate in the UT reached 97.71%, while the death rate was recorded at 1.48%.
