Puducherry adds 103 new COVID-19 cases

Puducherry, Sept 5 (PTI) The Union Territory of Puducherry reported 103 new COVID-19 cases and one more death on Sunday, taking the overall tally to 1,24,152 and the toll to 1,817. Puducherry recorded the maximum of 54 cases, followed by Karaikal 21, Mahe 15 and Yanam 13, Director of the Health Department G Sriramulu said. Active cases stood at 961, of whom 166 were in hospitals and the others, in home isolation. The Director said that 78 patients were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,21,374. Sriramulu said that the Test Positivity Rate was 2.09 per cent, while the fatality and recovery rates were 1.46 per cent and 97.76 per cent respectively. The department has so far vaccinated 38,163 health care workers and 23,005 front line workers against the pandemic. The Director said that 5.78 lakh people, including those coming under the senior citizens category or those aged above 45 years with co-morbidities, have been inoculated. In all, 8.36 lakh people, including those who received the second dose, have so far been vaccinated in the Union Territory, he said. PTI COR APR APR
