Puducherry CM disburses ex- gratia to kin of Covid-19 victims

Puducherry, Oct 8 (PTI) Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Friday handed over ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 to the next of kin of each of the 1,845 people who have succumbed to coronavirus so far in the union territory. A release said the amount was disbursed from the Chief Minister"s Covid Relief Fund. PWD Minister K Lakshminarayanan and Director of Health G Sriramulu were also present. The release said while 1,445 people had died of Covid-19 in Puducherry region since the outbreak of the pandemic in the union territory, 248 people succumbed so far to the infection in Karaikal, followed by 107 in Yanam and 45 in Mahe.
