Puducherry, Oct 21 (PTI) The union territory of Puducherry added 43 new Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours taking the overall tally to 1,27,564, a senior official of the Department of Health said. No fresh fatality was reported from any of the four regions for the second straight day and the death toll remained at 1,852. The new cases identified at the end of the examination of 2,953 samples, Director of the Health Department G Sriramulu said, adding they were spread over Puducherry (25), Karaikal (11) and Mahe (7). Yanam, an enclave in Andhra Pradesh did not add any fresh cases, he said. The number of active cases in the union territory stood at 454 with 100 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals and the remaining 354 patients in home isolation. Sriramulu said the department has so far tested 18.84 lakh samples and found 15.91 lakh out of them to be negative. As many as 50 patients recovered and were discharged during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Thursday, he said, adding the overall recoveries rose to 1,25,258. The test positivity rate was 1.46 per cent while the fatality and recovery rates were 1.45 per cent and 98.19 per cent respectively. He said the department has so far administered 10,89,046 vaccine doses which included 7,15,350 first doses and remaining 3,73,696 second doses. PTI Cor SS SS SS
