Puducherry, Apr 7 (PTI) The union territory of Puducherry continued to remain coronavirus-free for the eighth straight day with nil active cases and no new infections in the last 24 hours, a senior Health department official said on Thursday. No fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Thursday, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release, adding the death toll stood at 1,962. As many as 161 samples were tested and no fresh cases were detected. The overall caseload remained at 1,65,774 and total recoveries stood at 1,63,812. Sriramulu said the test positivity rate was zero and the fatality and recovery rates also remained at 1.18 per cent and 98.82 per cent respectively. The Department of Health has so far tested 22,29,565 samples and found 18,75,073 out of them to be negative. Sriramulu said that the department has so far administered 16,50,932 doses which comprised 9,56,716 first doses, 6,78,695 second and 15,521 booster doses. PTI Cor SS SS SS
