Puducherry logs 77 new COVID-19 cases

Puducherry, June 30 (PTI) Puducherry logged 77 fresh cases of coronavirus on Thursday, taking the total positives to 1,66,515.Director of Health G Sriramulu said the new cases surfaced during the examination of 1,824 samples. Puducherry region alone accounted for 59 fresh cases out of the 77 while Karaikal registered 13 infections followed by Yanam five. Mahe, an enclave of Puducherry in Kerala did not register any fresh case.The Director said that 39 patients recovered during last twenty four hours and the overall recoveries were 1,64,211. No fatality occurred in any of the four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam. The toll remained 1,962.Active cases were 342 of whom eight patients were in hospitals and the remaining 334 patients in home quarantine.The Department of Health has tested so far 22,89,367 samples and found 19,33,296 out of them to be negative.The test positivity rate today was 4.22 percent while fatality and recovery rates were 1.18 percent and 98.62 percent, respectively.The Health Department has administered so far 17,42,533 doses which comprised 9,71,705 first doses, 7,39,298 second doses and 31,530 booster doses.
