Railtel has come forward to provide free Wi-Fi at the Legislative Assembly and the Puducherry Railway Station. The government has decided to implement the e-office software developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in five departments, including the secretariat. Work has commenced on the establishment of the network in two colleges in the union territory, he added. The e-office scheme will be gradually extended to all line departments. The government has asked telecom service providers to provide free Wi-Fi services under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme in public places.
