Traffic policemen get training in life-saving skills

The traffic policemen were given an awareness session and hands-on training during the two-hour session on pre-hospital trauma care in handling emergencies during road accidents. The same team had earlier led a hands on training session at Raj Nivas for the women self help groups during the International Womens’ Day. According to the MGMCRI, the training for traffic police marked a continuation of the awareness outreach launched earlier with a focus on basic life support skills to various professionals who handle trauma in their profession. The session included training in basic life support, arresting bleed, fracture splinting, helmet removal in a case of head injury, and logrolling (moving a patient without flexing the spinal column).

Practice makes perfect : Traffic policemen participating in an awareness session on pre-hospital trauma care and basic life support during road accidents. more-in A team of certified trainers of the Simulation Lab of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute (MGMCRI), recently conducted a pre-hospital trauma care and basic life support awareness programme for cadres of traffic police in the south Puducherry zone. Around 30 traffic police men participated in the programme conducted at MGMCRI. The traffic policemen were given an awareness session and hands-on training during the two-hour session on pre-hospital trauma care in handling emergencies during road accidents. The session included training in basic life support, arresting bleed, fracture splinting, helmet removal in a case of head injury, and logrolling (moving a patient without flexing the spinal column). According to the MGMCRI, the training for traffic police marked a continuation of the awareness outreach launched earlier with a focus on basic life support skills to various professionals who handle trauma in their profession. The trainer team comprised Dr. Hemanth Kumar, Dr. Natesan and Dr. Sobana. The same team had earlier led a hands on training session at Raj Nivas for the women self help groups during the International Womens’ Day. The MGMCRI team is planning to conduct a series of similar programmes for different categories of professionals.
