The three-day food festival organised by Pondicherry Heritage Round Table 167 that began on Friday at Old Port in Puducherry is raising funds to build classrooms at government schools, desilt ponds in Puducherry region and do other community service activities. At least 55 food stalls have been put up, including Dindigul Thalapakkati, Cream Center, Indisca, Nuts ‘n’ Spices, Vivekanandha Coffee, K.C.Das from Chennai and other leading restaurants and hotels from Puducherry. Inaugurating ‘Bon Appetit – Eat for a Cause’ food festival on Friday, Chief Minister V.Narayanasamy said that it is the responsibility of the government to encourage Pondicherry Heritage Round Table 167 for organising a unique food festival for a cause. “They have distributed books to the students, dialysis machines and selflessly worked for the social cause,” he said.
