Puducherry seeks three years exemption from NEET

The government should be permitted to admit students who had done their qualifying examinations through the State Board, he said. Mr. Narayanasamy said that education was a State subject and came under the purview and jurisdiction of the State government. The Centre should not take away the right of the States affecting the smooth relations between the Centre and the States. Circular from Centre He said the Centre had sent a circular directing Puducherry government to toe the line in selection of students on the basis of NEET. The government could not ignore the circular. “We have been reiterating with the Union Health Minister and the Human Resource Development Minister to exempt Puducherry from NEET based selection, he said. Mr. Narayanasamy said that everyone had the right to express their views. There should be no transgression of limits. He said that as long as the rights of people were required to be protected there would be no objection to airing one’s views with restraint.
