| Photo Credit: S_S_KUMARThe three sewage treatment plants (STP), each having capacity to treat 17 million litres of wastewater a day, will be made functional by November. Since 1980, the sewerage scheme for urban areas was being implemented under the Integrated Urban Development Projects under State Budget. According to a senior official in the Public Works Department, the civil works for establishing the treatment plants had been completed and the trial run of STP at Lawspet had commenced. Each STP has been designed to cater to the treatment of wastewater from 16,000 to 20,000 households, an official said. The Chief Minister had directed the PWD to examine the possibility of using the STP to clean the Uppar drain.
