more-in The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has urged Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi to order a probe into irregularities in the functioning of Puducherry Agro Products, Food and Civil Supplies Corporation (Papsco) during the N.R. Congress regime. AIADMK legislative party leader A. Anbalagan told presspersons here on Monday that Papsco had incurred ?32 crore loss during 2014-16 in liquor sale. The entity had purchased liquor from distilleries for ?32 crore and had sold the consignment through its outlets. However, the corporation failed to pay the distilleries for the goods procured. The entity could not explain about what happened to the proceeds from the sale, he said. ‘L-G has not acted’ Mr. Anbalagan said he had submitted a memorandum to the Lt Governor seeking a probe. The AIADMK leader said he had spoken about the issue on the floor of the House. “I fail to understand why the Lt. Governor, who always speaks about probity in public life, has not ordered a probe,” he said. The ruling Congress would not order a probe into irregularities during N.R. Congress regime as both were hand-in-glove. Several committees were constituted to probe allegations of corruption during N.R. Congress rule but they all remained on paper, he said. Taking a dig at Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy for defending actor Vijay in the Mersal controversy, he said the actor was trying to seek publicity by making false allegations on GST and the Chief Minister had unnecessarily jumped to his defence.
