Four persons who were accused of throwing bombs at a government employee arrested in Puducherry on Wednesday. | Photo Credit: S_S_KUMAR more-in The Mettupalayam police have arrested four persons in connection with hurling of country-made bombs on an employee of the health department at Sokkanathanpet near Mettupalayam here on Monday evening. Police said an altercation erupted between Perumal and the accused identified as Tamilmani, Stephen, Lakshmanan and Tamilvanan over a petty issue. The four who came on motorcycles hurled the bomb while Perumal was walking towards his house. But the bomb missed him and hit a wall. In the impact, Shwetha, 11, who was playing on the road, was injured. The four were produced before a local court and remanded to custody. A search has been launched for Dharani who is at large, said Senior Superintendent of Police V.J. Chandran Meeting banned He said an order under Section 30 (2) of the Police Act, 1861, regulating conduct of public meetings, rallies within East Sub Division has been imposed till November 28. Mr. Chandran had asked political parties, organisations and associations to get permission from the Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) at least 48 hours in advance to hold any form of protest.
