Cybercrook siphons off Rs 4.64L from 42-yr-old woman’s account

According to the police, the fraudster(s) tampered with her Internet banking credentials.“The fraudster(s) hacked Anuradha’s account, changed her password and used her netbanking facility to make purchases and transfer money to four bank accounts at Sagar in Madhya Pradesh,” said senior inspector Mukund Mahajan of Yerawada police station on Friday.On the delay in lodging an FIR, Mahajan explained that Anuradha had filed a complaint application on January 22 at the police station, and the FIR was registered on Thursday after conducting a preliminary inquiry.“We have sent a letter to the bank to freeze the accounts of the fraudsters, and also supply details of the transactions, among others, at the earliest,” he added.“I suspect this to be a case of mobile cloning or phishing,” Anuradha told TOI over the phone on Friday, “I never shared my netbanking details with anyone, but they managed to hack my account, made online purchases to the tune of Rs1.5 lakh, transferred some money to an e-wallet and made six transfers via NEFT.”“I have filled a dispute form at the bank seeking refund of the amount, which was illegally transferred from my account.
