Police detain two men on a high in Nagzari nullah triple murder case

On Saturday afternoon, one of the two deceased men was identified as Sandeep Avasare (38), a homeless man. They were assaulted with sticks, rods and stones.The police had identified the deceased boy as Naved Shaikh (15) of Ganesh Peth on Friday night itself. He said even the murder victims seemed to have had the same addiction.The bodies of the two men and the boy were spotted late on Friday night. “The motive behind the crime is still unclear,” he said.Dahane said the police were trying to contact the relatives of the two identified deceased persons.The police have obtained the medical examination reports of the bodies. They were doing menial jobs in the city, Ambure added.

Pune: Two persons were detained on Saturday for their alleged involvement in the murders of two men and a boy, a day after their bodies were found floating in the water of Nagzari nullah under Daruwalla bridge in Ganesh Peth.Police said the duo — booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code — were detained early in the morning but the motive behind the murders could not be ascertained till the filing of the report because they were on a high.“The suspects are addicted to sniffing whitener and turpentine and are so high that they are not in a position to answer any questions,” said senior inspector B G Ambure of the Faraskhana police station. He said even the murder victims seemed to have had the same addiction.The bodies of the two men and the boy were spotted late on Friday night. Dahane clarified that it was not a case of “unnatural sex offence”.Senior inspector Ambure said Shaikh (the deceased boy)’s uncle, Arif Qasam Shaikh (27), of Ganesh Peth had lodged a complaint with the police.“The two deceased men were homeless, while Shaikh had not returned home for the past two or three days,” Ambure said. They were doing menial jobs in the city, Ambure added.
