Speed climber Shreya shines in SSC exam with 93%

Pune: Shreya Sanjay Nankar of Pune’s Symbiosis Secondary School secured 93% in the secondary school certificate (SSC, std X) exams, recently. She has been fascinated by 'climbing' since she was in the standard VI.Shreya has been selected for the Asian Games which will be held in August in Jakarta, Indonesia. For, they all know how she has been struggling to master the new game of wall climbing that will be in the Asian Games calendar for the first time in August 2018 and in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. She was told to join the selection camp on April 4, immediately after SSC exams.Shreya said, “I had to compete with the senior, established players in the open category to qualify to represent India in the Asian Games. All these five years, she has been shuttling between classrooms and Raje Shivaji climbing wall in Shivajinagar.Shreya raised her graph in December 2015 at the Asian Youth Championship in Malaysia where she won the bronze medal in speed climbing at the age of 13 years.

She has been fascinated by 'climbing' since she was in the standard VI.Shreya has been selected for the Asian Games which will be held in August in Jakarta, Indonesia. She was told to join the selection camp on April 4, immediately after SSC exams.Shreya said, “I had to compete with the senior, established players in the open category to qualify to represent India in the Asian Games. I practised daily even when my examinations were going on for two to three hours even when I was writing my papers during the board exams.”She was the top-ranked player in the selection camp and was picked for the Asian Games in the combined event in the speed relay. All these five years, she has been shuttling between classrooms and Raje Shivaji climbing wall in Shivajinagar.Shreya raised her graph in December 2015 at the Asian Youth Championship in Malaysia where she won the bronze medal in speed climbing at the age of 13 years. Repeating her performance in 2016 she won two gold medals in the nationals at Bengaluru in the lead climbing and bouldering and has been awarded best female athlete for 2016. In 2017, she continued her performance by winning gold and silver medals at the nationals in Indore.Her mother Manjusha teaches mathematics at Garware Junior College of commerce and father, Sanjay, runs a medical store. Both support her sport.
