Mobike rolls into JM Road, FC Road

PUNE: While Zoomcar’s bicycle sharing service PEDL added 500 new cycles to its fleet in June, Mobike , the Chinese app-based bike sharing company which launched its operation in Kothrud last month, rolled into FC Road, JM Road and Law College Road on Friday.With 1,000 new cycles, Mobike aims to cater to a wider target audience, especially students who use bicycles for easy commute.“We are committed to our vision of developing a culture of bicycle sharing in Pune. We have been overwhelmed by the tremendous response from Puneites post our launch in Kothrud, which has encouraged us to expand,” said Vibhor Jain, CEO of Mobike India.At Rs 10 for a 20-minute ride, they are more expensive than PEDL cycles but Sujith Nair, chief business officer, Mobike India, said that the cycles are a cheaper means of transport.Mobike has signed an MOU with Pune Municipal Corporation in support of the civic body’s ambitious ‘Pune Cycle Plan’ that aims to allocate resources, undertake projects and evaluate the outcomes towards achieving the goals set for improving cycling in Pune.
