GIS mapping of newlymerged villages

PMC plans to spend around Rs 340 per property for the survey.The state government plans to add 34 villages in the PMC limits. The same infrastructure and technical facilities can be used for the survey in the extended areas under PMC limits. Two villages -- Uruli Devachi and Phursungi -- have been merged while areas of other 11 villages have been added. Nearly 1 lakh properties in the merged villages will be added to it.

PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) plans to undertake GPS mapping of 11 merged villages in order to find out details of properties in these areas.The civic administration is contemplating doing this project in-house to save some money.As per PMC officials, the civic administration has carried out GPS mapping of the properties in the municipal limits. The same infrastructure and technical facilities can be used for the survey in the extended areas under PMC limits. The trained manpower, which PMC used for its survey, will be tapped for mapping the merged villages. Dnyaneshwar Molak, zonal commissioner, PMC, confirmed the development. “The civic body has planned the survey and the process will start soon. It will help in better coordination of development work,” he said.PMC plans to carry out GIS mapping of around 8.5 lakh properties in the municipal limits. Nearly 1 lakh properties in the merged villages will be added to it. PMC plans to spend around Rs 340 per property for the survey.The state government plans to add 34 villages in the PMC limits. It had issued a notification in 2017 for adding 11 villages in the first phase. The remaining 23 will be added in the upcoming phases. Two villages -- Uruli Devachi and Phursungi -- have been merged while areas of other 11 villages have been added. Some parts of these villages have already been added to PMC in 1997.Around Rs 2,229 crore will be spent on building the civic infrastructure. The funds are to be raised from various sources, including state and central governments.PMC s intends to carry out various types of work in these villages. They include installation of water supply and drainage lines. The survey of these works is yet to be carried out. The consultant for designing the drainage system in these villages has been finalised.PMC plans to start a survey of nullahs in these villages as well, which will be added in the drainage master plan of Pune city areas. The GIS mapping may help in that study too.
