25 lakh land documents in Parbhani to be stored on cloud

PUNE: To help state data centres in locating land documents, the government has rolled out a pilot programme to store 2.5 lakh record of rights (7/12 extracts) documents of Parbhani district on cloud under the state's cloud policy programme Officials said the state plans to store all data on cloud, provided the necessary data security is in place.With several issues being faced by the state data centres, the government is moving to cloud technology. While 8 lakh revenue land records have been digitized, the digitization process of 2.5 crore land records would be completed by August 1, 2018.Officials stated that citizens expressed concern over hardships in the absence of digital process. With cloud technology, it will help to upload more documents as well,’’ stated the official from the Pune settlement commissionerate.The chief Mminister had earlier directed the revenue department to shift all the 7/12 extracts to cloud rather than keep them with various state data centres. As the figure of 7/12 extract is very large, the option of shifting the data to cloud by putting in necessary security measures is being worked out, added the official.The state had already set a deadline for digitization of data of 40,913 villages across the state by August 1.

Digitisation process would simplify the process and storage using cloud technology.Under the framework, the government will make it mandatory for the data to be stored within the country and the broad idea is to use public cloud in cases wherever the Right to Information Act is applicable, and then go in for enhanced security features for private and sensitive data, which will also be stored on cloud.
