A centre where foreign students can learn English

PUNE: The international centre at Savitribai Phule Pune University has launched a one-year course called English language and study in India.The course for international students will include an English language component as well as studies on social, cultural and political aspects of contemporary India.The centre is also launching a two-month spoken English course for Indian and international students as well as International English Language Testing System to meet the requirements of English language proficiency test for higher education.It will introduce the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for international students who have studied English as a second language and help evaluate their English proficiency.Every year, international students exchange ideas and cultural values by participating in the youth festival, which includes sports, food and cultural events. Students also showcase their talents by putting up ‘Kaleidoscope’, a cultural programme.
