Chances to get into top colleges narrow

Otherwise, they should go for the next best option and change their preference list,” Raut said.The CAP committee has told colleges that have completed admitting 70% of their strength of students to start regular classes for FYJC. “Junior colleges shall ensure that they complete the syllabus for students who are admitted after the commencement of colleges by conducting extra lectures and practicals,” the notice issued by deputy director of education’s office.The third merit list will be announced online on July 26.

PUNE: As many as 25, 676 students were allocated colleges in the second merit list for First Year Junior College admissions on Thursday.The Centralised Admission Procedure ( CAP ) committee of the deputy director of education, Pune division, made the announcement on Thursday.It is compulsory for students to take admission in the allotted college if it is their first preference. If they don’t, they will not be considered for the next rounds of CAP.In the second list, 8,552 students were allotted their first preference of college. Students have time till 5pm on July 21 to take admission in the colleges allotted to them.“Students who have got a college between their second and tenth preference can wait for the third round. If they want to change their preferences, they can do so between July 23 and 24 between 11am and 6pm,” Minakshi Raut, acting deputy director of education for Pune division, said.The colleges will take stock of their confirmed admissions and display online the vacancy list and cut- off marks for their own colleges on July 23 at 11am.“Students who have not got any allotment yet or are unhappy with the preference they have been allotted and have not taken admission anywhere must rethink their choices. They must examine the vacancy list and the cut-off marks in the colleges of their choice and then compare it with their marks. Only if all of these are comparable should they keep preferring that college.
