PUNE: Sujit Kamble , a 26-year-old businessman, suffered injuries to his head, face and hands after he was attacked by three men armed with a cement block and steel pipes. The attack, motivated by a previous dispute, took place at Ganeshnagar in Thergaon around 7.30pm on Thursday.The Wakad police have booked the three suspects — identified as Vicky Tanpure , Kiran Tanpure and Nanya , alias Tushar Dhawale — after Kamble lodged an first information report (FIR) on Friday.The police said Kamble and the three suspects knew each other.Two days prior to the attack, Kamble had reportedly slapped the suspects when an argument got heated. The suspects did not resist Kamble then but decided to teach him a fitting lesson at a later stage.Wakad police’s assistant inspector Tanaji Bogam said, “The suspects, who are friends, were travelling in a car when they suddenly spotted Kamble standing outside a laundry at Ganeshnagar on Thursday. The trio stopped their vehicle. The three men confronted Kamble and picked up a fight with him. In a fit of rage, the suspects attacked the businessman. They hit him on the head with a cement block and also beat him up with metal pipes. The suspects then fled the spot.”Bogam said, “Kamble could not instantly report the incident to the police because he had to rush to the hospital for treatment. After he was discharged from the hospital, the businessman visited the police station and gave details of the incident on Friday. We recorded his statement and registered an FIR against the suspects for voluntarily causing grievous injuries, among other charges of the Indian Penal Code .”“The suspects could not be arrested because their whereabouts are not known. We have launched a hunt to arrest them at the earliest,” he added.
