10 go on the rampage in Nigdi damage eight vehicles

Pune: A gang of 10 youths went on the rampage at Ajanthnagar in Nigdi late on Saturday night, damaging 10 vehicles in the process.The Nigdi police said that the incident was the fallout of a quarrel between two friends. “They used sticks to smash the windshields of parked autorickshaws and also damaged two-wheelers,” the officer said.The police have registered a case of rioting against the suspects. On July 14, 15 four-wheelers, parked b the roadside in Pimple Nilakh and Pimpri, were damaged by unidentified persons. A police complaint has been lodged by Ajanthnagar resident Somnath Shinde.A police officer said two friends had a falling out and quarrelled on Saturday afternoon. He was accompanied by nine other youths.When he did not find the other person, the youth and his friends caused a ruckus in the area.

Later that night, one of them came to Ajanthnagar to confront the other. He was accompanied by nine other youths.When he did not find the other person, the youth and his friends caused a ruckus in the area. “They used sticks to smash the windshields of parked autorickshaws and also damaged two-wheelers,” the officer said.The police have registered a case of rioting against the suspects. “Our probe is on,” the officer said.This is the latest such incident just this month. On July 14, 15 four-wheelers, parked b the roadside in Pimple Nilakh and Pimpri, were damaged by unidentified persons. Seven were damaged in Pimple Nilakh while the rest were vandalized in Pimpri.Earlier in the month, on July 4, tension had prevailed in the Bivewadi area just after midnight, after a dispute had broken out between two groups of men. In the ruckus that ensued between 12.15am and 12.30am, 15 vehicles — three two-wheelers, eight autorickshaws, three cars and a tempo — were damaged in four suburbs of Upper Indiranagar.In May, a group of men carrying sharp weapons had assaulted two persons and damaged about a dozen of vehicles at Nehrunagar and Vitthalnagar in Pimpri.To curb the increasing cases of vehicle vandalism, police had recently carried out raids and took action against criminals.
