Cops trace sources of lewd calls to control room

PUNE: The Bund Garden police on Sunday registered an offence against unidentified men for calling on the Pune police control room (PCR) number and talking to women constables in lewd language after identifying the numbers of the four cellphones used in the act.An officer of the Bund Garden police told TOI that the callers had been harassing the women police at the control room for the past two months. “They used to call on the police control room number and talk in lewd language after finding a woman on the other end,” the officer said.Initially, the women police constables ignored the calls. “They had even told the callers that an offence would be registered against them. Still, they would continue to talk with the police women in lewd language,” the officer said, adding that one of the police women lodged the complaint frustrated by such calls.A 37-year-old police constable attached to the Pune police’s control room lodged the complaint.
