PMRDArsquos mobility plan gets Fadnavis approval

PUNE: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday gave an in-principle approval to the comprehensive mobility plan (CMP) prepared by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).He gave the approval after chairing a general body meeting of PMRDA, held in Mumbai today, and tweeted about the same.The comprehensive mobility plan will lay stress on walking, cycling and use of public transport, rather than private transport.To counter increasing pollution, a separate comprehensive traffic and transportation study was undertaken and presented at the meeting. The beneficiaries of several development projects will be awarded homes on a priority basis under the PPP model of PMAY, said the PMRDA officials.The CM has given approval for providing land (17,676 sq mt) at Wagholi to PMPML on long term rental basis for setting up a bus depot. ‘We have received an in-principle approval and now it will be taken up at the executive committee,’’ PMRDA commissioner Kiran Gitte told TOI.Meanwhile, the GB also discussed the Metro tender being awarded to Siemens-Tata Realty and it has been sent to the executive committee for approval.Gitte stated that it is likely to be cleared in two weeks by a committee headed by the additional chief secretary (finance).
