PUNE: The Congress in Maharashtra on Monday announced the launch of a campaign, Jan-Sangharsh Yatra, from August 31 to reach out to the people across the state for highlighting the BJP-led government’s “failures”.“Not a single promise made by the BJP and the Shiv Sena before the last elections has been fulfilled. There’s an unrest in society and democracy is under threat,” state party chief Ashok Chavan said while announcing details of the first phase of the agitation.“The government has failed to create new jobs and bring investments to the state. The Jan-Sangharsh Yatra will start from western Maharashtra and cover every part of the state in the next three months. We will speak to people to find out the problems they are facing. We have invited party president Rahul Gandhi to take part in the campaign,” he said.The leader claimed that many ministers in the state were involved in corruption cases, but chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has not taken any action. “Instead, he has given clean chits to them. People are frustrated with the government’s non-performance. The government is trying to divide society. The backward communities and the Dalits are being attacked. Asked if the Congress will stake claim for the Pune Lok Sabha seat during next year’s election, Chavan said, “Both the parties are open to fight all 48 seats till the discussions over a possible alliance reach a conclusion. Talks about seat-sharing arrangements will come up later.”
