Narendra Modi Ambegaon Indian Penal Code After many incidents of roping in kids for political movements have come to light, Pune zilla parishad’s CEO has issued an order against the practice. He has also stated that police cases be filed against those who violate this order. While political parties have welcomed the move, they have also demanded that the implementation start with the ruling party members, who have made it mandatory for students to watch a film on the life of Prime Minister. In the past few months, the district witnessed three incidents of students being used for various political agenda.The recent one was the protest in Dalaj, village in Indapur taluka, held against the transfer of a gram sevak. Another protest was held at, where the villagers closed down all schools as a mark of their agitation. Irked by this, zilla parishad CEO Suraj Mandhare has announced that legal action will be taken against those using children to reap political benefits. He has stated in an order that if a school is locked down or kids are made to participate in rallies, then a case will be registered against the persons concerned.Explaining the order, Mandhare said, “In the past few months, multiple incidents of using students for political reasons have come forth. We can understand if this is being done as part of an awareness campaign. But if the kids are being held responsible for political gains, then we can no longer entertain it. Schoolchildren lack understanding of politics. Also, if villagers have any complaints, they should approach us. Protests must be held only if the problems are not addressed by us. But this doesn’t seem to be happening here.So, I have instructed all the education officers to keep a strict vigil and file cases within three hours of such incidents.” Mandhare has also asked the officials to send a copy of complaints to the head office. He said that the decision has been taken after consulting the rural superintendent of police (SP). A case will be registered under Section 353 of the(IPC), which will be a cognisable and non-bailable offence.Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said, “I have not seen the order, but this is definitely a welcome move. I had issued similar orders when I was working with the Sindhudurg ZP. It should be taken seriously and all political parties should abide by the rules.” NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said, “School kids should not be used as pawns. But while the authorities are doing this, it must be ensured that students are not used to push for political agenda. Will there be any action against the education minister, who has ordered the screening of film on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life?”
