He had kept Rs5.09 lakh he had received after selling a vehicle in his house.“On Monday around 12noon, the Borude family went out. When they returned around 4.15pm, they found the lock of the front door open and the bag containing the cash missing,” Gaikwad said.He said Borude found a pair of gold earrings in the cupboard missing, too. “Cash and gold earrings collectively worth Rs5.15 lakh were stolen from the house. We are probing the case,” Gaikwad said.Cash and gold ornaments worth Rs63,000 together were stolen from two flats in Hariom building in the Vishrantwadi area between 9.30am and 6.30pm on Monday. Tanumay Dasgupta, a resident of one of the two flats, lodged a complaint with the Vishrantwadi police.Around the same time on Monday, a gang of burglars struck in Kondhwa and fled with cash and gold ornaments collectively worth Rs74,000. Hakimuddin Salebhai has lodged a complaint with the Kondhwa police.“The burglars broke into Salebhai’s flat and stole Rs63,000 besides gold ornaments worth Rs9,000,” said an officer of the Kondhwa police.He said some suspects decamped with a computer worth Rs35,000 from an office in the Kondhwa area. “We have obtained CCTV footage from the area to ascertain the identity of the burglars,” the officer said.
