The rise in demand is mainly on account of a rise in agricultural demand due to the dry spell, a statement issued by the distribution company said. This demand was successfully met despite reduced availability from various generators tied up under long term power purchase, due to prevailing coal shortage scenario.“The total availability from long-term contracted generator was around 14,354MW as against contracted capacity of 29,840MW.
