Pimpri Chinchwad: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has invited revised tenders for garbage segregation in households. The previous tenders were cancelled in April.The civic body has invited four tenders, for which Rs1,641 per tonne of garbage has been quoted. The base rate of the Nashik Municipal Corpoation has been taken and the contract period will be of eight years. The garbage collection will be done in two zones along the Pune-Mumbai highway.“The tender processing will be done in one-and-a-half-month,” Manoj Lonkar, assistant commissioner of the health department, PCMC, said.The contractor will give the work order after micro planning and will get remuneration as per the financial terms every year.It is the contractor’s responsibility to get vehicles, fuel, carry out maintenance and repair works and deploy employees for the same. The vehicles collecting garbage will be equipped with a tracking system, which will be controlled by the civic body.The PCMC’s standing committee decided to carry out garbage segregation in April, for which two contractors were appointed then. The quoted rates were Rs1,780 and Rs1,740 per tonne of garbage. However, the tender was cancelled after opposition parties alleged irregularities and demanded an inquiry.
